About the Journal

AEHST is an official publication of the University of Medical Sciences Ondo.

Journal Scope: Contributions will be drawn from biology, botany, environmental chemistry, climatology, ecology, ecological economics, fisheries, forest sciences, geosciences, public health, sustainability sciences, zoology, and a variety of other disciplines, often in combinations determined by interdisciplinary study.

It also covers the areas of toxicity and toxicology of environmental pollutants in air, dust, sediment, soil and water, and natural toxins in the environment. Topics of particular interest include: toxic or biologically disruptive impacts of anthropogenic chemicals such as pharmaceuticals, industrial organics, agricultural chemicals, and by-products such as chlorinated compounds from water disinfection and waste incineration; natural toxins and their impacts; biotransformation and metabolism of toxigenic compounds, food chains for toxin accumulation or biodegradation; assays of toxicity, endocrine disruption, mutagenicity, carcinogenicity, ecosystem impact and health hazard; and environmental and public health risk assessment, environmental guidelines, environmental policy for toxicants.

It will publish peer-reviewed original research articles, reviews and short communications in the mentioned broad research areas.

Editions: Both Print and Online Editions (Open Access).

Issues: Two (2) issues per year (volume).

Review Process

The article is first assessed by the managing Editor. If it is considered okay for peer-review, it is checked for plagiarism. Then, it is sent to reviewers for double-blind peer-review. At least two reviewers must recommend acceptance before the articles are accepted for publication. Before publication, all accepted articles are sent to the editorial board members for further assessment and final decision. It takes about three months from manuscript submission to acceptance.

As an open access journal, published content is retained and owned by the author(s). Authors retain the right to use their work for educational and non-commercial purposes. Reproduction, distribution, and adaptation of published material require written permission from the journal. Requests for permissions should be directed to the editorial office.  Authors grant AEHST a license to publish the article and identify itself as the original publisher. Authors also grant any third party the right to use the article freely as long as its integrity is maintained and its original authors, citation details and publisher are identified.
